Steps to Getting Fit for Your Wedding

  1. Clean up your eating. Anytime you’re trying to amp up your fitness, start in the kitchen, because like the expression goes, “Great Abs are made in the Kitchen”. Eliminate processed, fried, and sugary foods. Focus on lean meats and fish, eggs, vegetables, fruit, and whole grains. Another great tip to help you portion control, try eat your meals on a salad plate.
  2. Find motivation outside the wedding. Getting fit is about a permanent, lifestyle change. Sure, your wedding inspired you to want to get fitter in the first place, but find a motivator to help you want to be stay fit for life. For example, making sure you and your future spouse live long, healthy, active lives together. Give yourself rewards other than food–especially sweets. 3. Have fun with your workouts. The best way to keep up an active lifestyle is to keep it fun. Summer weather is great for outdoor workouts, such as biking, hiking or swimming. 4. De-stress yourself. Wedding planning is stressful and stress is detrimental to your body both emotionally and physically. Consider practicing yoga a few times a week to promote inner peace. Not only is yoga great for overall body toning, especially the core, but it boosts emotional well-being and helps prevent insomnia (which can cause stress itself). Get a massage or treat yourself to a spa day.

Most importantly, enjoy the journey to your wedding!
